Subject: Lesley Update - 11/2 I visited Lesley yesterday afternoon. I got there just as she was about to be moved from Intensive Care to the regular neuro floor. I got to help drive her bed. I felt like the fireman on the back end of a hook and ladder truck! She was doing real well with great movement on both her right and left sides, and was talking as well as she had been before these two swelling episodes. Her memory seemed to be good as she was telling me about EgyptAir that she had seen on the TV and told me the names of the doctors who visited her. She said she'd been mostly awake since 11 PM. She has an exterior type of headache from the swelling from the surgery that we are managing with an ice pack and with Percocet. Her appetite was good and she ate virtually all of her lunch and dinner (except for her peas and coffee - they didn't have her meal selections so they gave her the "standard" meals (she likes neither peas nor coffee)). I actually think she's doing better than after the first surgery. She hadn't gotten out of bed yet but she seems to be close to being ready to do that. They're tapering her off the Mannitol and will be keeping her on the Decadron. She went to bed shortly after dinner, about 6:30. This morning I called and she said her left eye was swollen shut, but she was doing real well. She slept through the night except for when they poked and prodded her. She is now on Tylenol instead of the Percocet (her choice) and said the head aches less. She'll probably go for a walk this morning. Assuming she's still awake, I'll take her for a walk this afternoon (I need my exercise, too :-)). She was real interested in how the kids are doing. By the way, the kids are doing fine - just not listening to their grandparents the way they should. I'll update you again if there are any significant changes.
